Dr. Ebony Ruhland received her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota's School of Social Work. Her research focuses on how criminal justice policies and practices impact individuals, families, and communities. Her current projects focus on monetary sanctions, probation practices, prisoner reentry experiences, and perceptions of gun violence in the Black and Brown communities. Ebony frequently uses action-oriented, community-participatory approaches in her research. She aims to do research that matters to the community, in partnership with individuals with lived experience. Through her research, Dr. Ruhland hopes to find ways to improve and sustain community well-being, as well as to identify evidence-based, equitable correctional practices.
