In 2022, the NPSC launched a project to test the Data-Informed Community Engagement model in three neighborhoods of the City of Newark. This project, supported by the BJA, seeks to improve community safety and trust through alternatives to traditional enforcement mechanisms in neighborhoods experiencing high rates of low-level criminal offenses. Through a strategic partnership with three community-based organizations, namely, Newark Community Solutions (NCS), Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD), and the Unified Vailsburg Service Organization (UVSO), NPSC is empowering Newark community stakeholders to become co-producers of public safety. The project is divided into four phases over a period of 3 years:
