Deborah “Debbie” Regan is a graduate student in the School of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University-Newark, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice summa cum laude and is completing her master’s degree through the accelerated program. With over 30 years of experience as a paralegal, she brings a practical understanding of law, public policy, and justice system operations to her research.

At the Newark Public Safety Collaborative (NPSC), Debbie applies the attention to detail she developed through decades in the legal field to validate, verify, and organize complex data used in spatial crime analysis. By ensuring data integrity, she helps support reliable analysis and actionable insights that guide community safety efforts effectively.

Debbie’s research interests focus on how policing practices and community environments influence public safety, encompassing topics such as procedural justice, predictive policing, and the impact of neighborhood conditions on property crime rates. She also continues to work full-time in the legal field as a paralegal, balancing her professional career with her academic and research pursuits.
