“Idling Gets You Nowhere” poster contest

In the city of Newark, motor vehicle theft and theft from auto have steadily increased over the last years. A major factor contributing to this increase in crime has been identified as leaving cars running unattended. The NPSC and several of its partner organizations have collaborated in a community engagement activity designed for children and families to participate in the collective effort of improving public safety, all while staying at home. The poster contest goal is to combat and increase awareness of Newark's ongoing motor vehicle theft crime problems. We are all embracing ways to allow families to be creative across generations and to design a message around reducing the incidence of stolen vehicles, often left running, as people go about their daily lives. The winning poster will be printed and distributed in high-risk areas for motor vehicle theft and social media channels.
